As a member of the Sioux Lookout District, Lac Seul Area team, under the general supervision of the Area Supervisor, to assist with fisheries biological and ecological information collection, compilation, and synthesis, for the purposes of fisheries management planning.
Qualifications:Knowledge of fisheries biology and ecology including population assessment and harvest planning; knowledge of statistical analysis methods in order to compile databases. Skills in computer word processing, statistical analysis, use of spreadsheets and database management. Organizational and research skills and ability to prepare scientific reports. Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Knowledge of fisheries conservation issues, and legislative and planning tools that enable fisheries management in Ontario. Knowledge of fish, aquatic invertebrate and plant species of Ontario. Knowledge of and ability to use remote sensing equipment [e.g. data loggers, Geographic Positioning Systems (GPS), radios, satellite phones, etc.] Knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act. Knowledge of and ability to safely use water craft and all-terrain vehicles. Valid Class “G” Driver`s License to travel occasionally to locations throughout Northwestern Ontario. Valid Pleasure Craft Operator`s certificate or ability to obtain.
Proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
Proof of full-time enrollment in a recognized post-secondary college or university or graduation within the last five years.
Candidates are only eligible to participate in a maximum of two placements.
