"The purpose of the database is to provide Canadian life-cycle inventory data:
- to small and medium-sized manufacturers, converters, formulators and other users to support their voluntary efforts in improving the environmental performance of their products, consistent with principles of pollution prevention.
- to participating industries to support their internal improvements"
Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies (CERES)
CERES promotes a ten-point code of conduct, known as the CERES Principles for companies seeking to demonstrate a high standard of public accountability on environmental issues (These principles were formally known as the Valdez Principles, developed in response to the infamous Exxon Valdez oil spill.)
Corporate Social Responsibility website, Industry Canada
A site dedicated to providing information on environmental management systems (EMS) to employees of the Government of Canada, and to EMS practitioners around the world. EMS Info is an initiative of Environment Canada and is supported by the efforts of the Federal Committee on Environmental Management Systems (FCEMS).
Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI)
A U.S.-based, non-profit organization of 30 leading companies ‘dedicated to fostering environmental, health and safety excellence worldwide through the sharing of tools and information.’
