Go to as many different events etc. as you possible can. Dress well. Act friendly. It's all about who you know, and how you come across.
Depending on where you are there are a few resources out there to help, ie. www.eco.ca, or CEP (Connecting environmental proffessionals). But essentially, get out there.

Look at job sites on the internet. I found my last three positions there. If you don't already have them get certifications in TDG and and any other environmental/safety related training. A degree is good but a certification in the right area can work wonders. I have been a corporate level environmental manager for 12 years and have beat out people with masters degrees in environmental engineering for the positions by having the right certification for the job, (I have only a lowly asociates degree in Liberal arts), and the right experiance. Not much you can do for the experiance but the certifications can be gotten. Most of these classes are less than a week and $800. The previous post has some good content as well, attitude is everything for upper level positions. Good luck
