"The Government of Canada's Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Program provides funding for research and activities to improve our knowledge of Canada’s vulnerability to climate change, to better assess the risks and benefits posed by climate change and to build the foundation upon which appropriate decisions on adaptation can be made."

EcoAction Funding, Environment Canada
"The EcoAction Community Funding Program is an Environment Canada program that provides financial support to community groups for projects that have measurable, positive impacts on the environment. Non-profit groups and organizations are eligible to apply to the Funding Program. This includes, but is not limited to: community groups, environmental groups, aboriginal groups and First Nations councils, service clubs, associations and youth and seniors' organizations."

Natural Resources Canada - Canadian Initiative for International Technology Transfer (CIITT)
"CIITT strives to provide support for the identification and development of climate-change technology transfer projects headed for developing and developed nations."

Natural Resources Canada - Commercial Building Incentive Program (CBIP)
"A financial incentive of up to $60,000 will be awarded to building owners whose designs meet CBIP requirements. The duration of the program will be from April 1, 1998, to March 31, 2004."

Natural Resources Canada - Energy Innovators Initiative (EII)
"EII helps commercial businesses and public institutions explore energy efficiency options and strategies. The initiative offers members access to an array of tools, services and financial incentives - delivered through an Energy Innovators Officer who will be assigned to work with you after you join."

Canada's Ecological Gifts Program
"Since 1995, landowners across Canada have been able to receive federal and provincial tax assistance for protecting ecologically sensitive lands. An area approaching the size of Bruce Peninsula National Park in Ontario has been donated to date by citizens and corporations in Canada.

Individuals or corporations can donate private land to the federal, provincial or territorial governments, Canadian municipalities, or one of about 136 approved charities. Individuals receive a federal tax credit (corporations receive a deduction), for the value of the land donated. The amount of the credit or deduction is 17% of the first $200 of land value and 29% of the remaining. Unlike other charitable donations, these credits and deductions can be used against up to 100% of their annual income. Unused portions of the tax credit or deduction can be carried forward for up to five additional years. The February 2000 federal Budget introduced further changes to the Income Tax Act that reduced by 50%, the amount that would otherwise be included as income on any capital gains associated with the gift."

The Canadian Consultant Trust Fund for the Global Environment
"When a World Bank or IDB project is being prepared, many studies are undertaken in order to design the project properly. Under the CCTFs at the World Bank and the IDB, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) provides financing to cover the costs of hiring consultants from Canada to help the Banks perform these studies. Although CIDA provides the money, the CCTFs are managed by the Banks and consultants are contracted to the Banks for this work. For the period of 2000-2004, CIDA has pledged CDN$ 20.5 million to CCTFs at the World Bank and CDN$ 6 million to the CCTF at the IDB."

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency’s Research & Development Program
"The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) has instituted a new program to support research and development in the field of environmental assessment.

The purpose of the program is to help the federal government meet future challenges and improve the practice of environmental assessment (EA) in a manner which is relevant, credible, efficient, and encourages innovation and excellence.

The Agency will contribute toward research that furthers the practice of environmental assessment, and/or improves the level of understanding of environmental assessments in support of sustainable development issues."

Environmental Youth Corp. (EYC)
"The Canadian Council for Human Resources in the Environment Industry (CCHREI) Environmental Youth Corp. (EYC) initiative is designed to create a six to twelve month window-of-opportunity for post-secondary graduates under the age of 30. These individuals are either unemployed or underemployed and are seeking to gain experience in either a national or international environmental project.

Matching youth with growing Canadian organizations, CCHREI not only supplies companies with a database of hundreds pre-screened, work-ready young professionals, we also supply a wage subsidy of up to $8 000 - $12 000 (depending on the length and type of project your company is undertaking).�

E-Team
The Environment Youth Team is accepting applications until March 16, 2001 from organizations that would like to sponsor an E-Team project between Apr. 2001 and March 2002.

"The E-Team provides funding so organizations can hire young people to do jobs that benefit the environment and local communities. This is an opportunity for employers to accomplish goals that might not otherwise be attainable. Over the past seven years, the government has put $58 million into the E-Team program, creating 8,620 jobs for youth." Environment, Lands and Parks Minister Ian Waddell

Green Venture Capital Program
"The Green Venture Capital Program is an extension of the Equity Capital Program. It is aimed at raising capital for small businesses that are introducing technologies or services that restore, preserve or enhance the environment. This program helps green businesses raise new financing to start or expand their operation.

The Green Venture Capital Program promotes new investments in B.C. businesses by providing investors with a refundable tax credit of 30 per cent."

Manitoba

Manitoba Climate Change Action Fund
"The Manitoba Climate Change Action Fund (MCCAF), a component of the Sustainable Development Innovations Fund (SDIF), has $250,000 annually to support projects focusing on public education and outreach; the scientific understanding of climate change impacts and potential adaptation practices; technological innovation (research and commercialization); and energy efficiency and alternative or "green" energy."

Sustainable Development Innovations Fund (Sdif)
" The SDIF provides funding for the development, implementation and promotion of environmental innovation and sustainable development projects. The SDIF is targeted at the sustainability of Manitoba's environment, economy, human health and social well-being and supportive of environmentally sustainable economic growth."

Eligible Applicants:

• municipalities, local governments, including Community Councils, and First Nation communities;
• private and non-profit organizations;
• youth groups and community associations; and
• educational institutions.

Individuals, or groups excluded from the above list, may submit a joint application with an eligible applicant.

The SDIF Open Program Area will consider proposals up to four times annually.

Waste Reduction And Pollution Prevention (Wrapp) Fund
“The Government of Manitoba has made a four-year commitment to fund waste reduction and pollution prevention practices under the Sustainable Development Innovations Fund totalling $2.2 million. The Waste Reduction and Pollution Prevention (WRAPP) Fund has $550,000 for FY 2000/01 to support projects focusing on waste reduction, pollution prevention and innovative integrated waste management practices. Priorities for funding areas will be reviewed on an annual basis.�

Eligible Applicants:

Projects submissions are welcome from the following:

• municipalities, local governments, including Community Councils, and First Nation communities, and provincial government departments;
• private and non-profit organizations;
• community groups and associations; and
• educational institutions.

Individuals or groups excluded from the above list may submit a joint application with an eligible applicant.

Energy Conservation Capital Program
“The Government of the Northwest Territories encourages the efficient use of energy and water and the utilization of northern resources in a manner consistent with the economic and social well being of residents and the protection of the northern environment. To assist territorial and community funded departments, boards and agencies, as well as non-profit organizations, in achieving these goals, the Energy Conservation Capital Program is available to support projects which reduce our usage of electrical and heat energy, and water.� There are project evaluations four times per year.

The Québec fund for sustainable development provides financial assistance to projects designed to promote and disseminate knowledge and practices that are consistent with sustainable development. Enhancement and development of biodiversity as well as access to Québec's natural heritage are the other goals it pursues.� Applications for financial assistance must be submitted by April 17, 2001.

Sustainable Community Planning (SCP) Program; Online Application Form
SCP Program Objectives:

1. Contribute to the development of community capacity to identify and address long term community social, economic and environmental sustainability issues in Saskatchewan.

2. Encourage and mobilize Saskatchewan communities to become models of "environmental excellence"1 and sustainable "socio-economic progress."2

3. Enable communities to access available resources in senior government departments, local governments, associations and non-government organizations for pursuing community socio-economic progress and environmental excellence.

4. Assist in creating a network of self-empowered communities in Saskatchewan as models of sustainable socio-economic progress, and environmental excellence.
