Alberta Alberta Human Resources and Employment (AHRE) is the government department responsible for administering the following Acts and Regulations: Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act - requires that employers take the necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of their workers. Workers are also required to perform their jobs in a safe manner and to follow proper work practices established by their employer. Chemical Hazards Regulation (AR 393/88) - addresses asbestos removal and exposure guidelines. General Safety Regulation (AR 448/83) – addresses respiratory protective equipment, and respirator use, storage, cleaning, inspecting, servicing, and code of practice.
